What does the name Kolff refer to?
Our exclusive VIP suite is named in honour of Dutch internist Willem Johan Kolff, a pioneer in dialysis and inventor of artificial organs such as the rotating drum kidney. He developed these procedures under extremely difficult conditions during the Second World War, and in 1945, he succeeded in performing the first effective dialysis treatment on a seriously ill patient.
